The largest religious shift in American history is happening before our very eyes. Folks are leaving the church. And not just folks who are “out there.” Beloved friends, family members, and students have walked away from the church, and this leaves many with questions and sorrow. Even still, there are many in our midst struggling with their faith. Church hurt, doubts, and national scandals bring us to ask questions of the church. How do we begin to address these questions and concerns?

This elective will take a careful look at the phenomenon of deconstruction and seek to define it, grapple with its implications, and develop tools for walking alongside friends and family questioning their faith.
