Recap From Our Vision Meeting
We are entering an exciting new season at Westminster. On Sunday, August 17, Pastor Mike Honeycutt and Steve Smith, our Executive Director, led our Vision Meeting to share where God is leading us through Vision 2030—our five-year plan to help us fulfill our mission of helping people find hope, freedom, and purpose in Jesus.
Each year we will take steps toward that vision. For 2025, our objectives are: launching a discipleship pathway, cultivating a more intentionally welcoming church culture, and planning a major campus renovation. At the Vision Meeting, Jonathan Garrett, Katie Hughes, and Daniel Gaulden then shared encouraging progress toward each of these goals.
Pastor Jonathan Garrett outlined our discipleship pathway designed to make it easier for everyone—especially those new to Westminster—to grow as mature, equipped followers of Christ. We want the love of Jesus Christ to shape how every single person sees themselves and all that they do.
Katie Hughes shared our newest initiative to cultivate a more welcoming church culture. We are launching The Gathering Place, a new Sunday morning space for connection, ministry engagement, and learning next steps. You are invited to join us starting next Sunday, August 24 to engage with us at 10am in The Gathering Place.
We also heard an encouraging update on campus renovations from Deacon Daniel Gaulden. A feasibility study showed strong support: the vast majority of respondents are satisfied with their Westminster experience and believe it’s time to address our aging facilities. Top priorities include refreshing our children and youth spaces, sanctuary updates (including an elevator), and creating more welcoming entrances. The consultants believe we can raise at least $10 million over the next three years. Further planning is already underway, and we will begin to collect commitments in early 2026. More communication about this capital campaign will be coming this fall.
Pastor Mike closed by affirming our church’s commitment to two worship styles. He referenced our new philosophy of worship which we encourage you to read. He also reminded us that God has blessed us with a wonderful campus. Now it’s our turn to invest in updates that will serve generations to come.
This is a brief highlight of the main topics covered during our Vision Meeting. You can watch the full replay of the Vision Meeting to ensure that you do not miss out on any of the details. We also encourage you to take a moment to read our entire vision statement to see where we believe God is leading us. Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks ahead—we are excited to see about what is to come at Westminster.
