Session Update — April 2025

Dear Westminster Presbyterian Church Family,

Please read on for an update from the Session’s April meeting.

JOINT OFFICER DINNER MEETING

Each quarter, our elders and deacons come together for a shared dinner, combining fellowship with important church updates. At our most recent gathering, the Bright Hope team presented a report on their ministry, now beginning its fourth year. Over that time, we have supported four families—one of whom has even purchased a home and become self-sustaining. We are deeply grateful for the many volunteers whose time and dedication have made this work possible, and we continue to praise God for his faithful provision.

Jonathan Taylor also shared an encouraging update on the men’s ministry, which has seen steady growth over the past two years—welcoming both church members and men from the broader community. Recently, the men organized two workdays at Camp Canaan to assist in recovery efforts following last fall’s hurricane. If you’d like to get involved with the men’s ministry, feel free to contact Jonathan at jtaylor@wpcgo.com.

Greg Madden, our Diaconate Chair, shared an update on the vital mercy ministries carried out by our deacons. We are deeply thankful for your generous giving to the Mercy Fund, which enables us to support individuals and families in need—both within our church and in the broader community. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our deacons at deacons@wpcgo.com.

SESSION RETREAT

On September 5–6, our Session will gather for an in-town retreat—a dedicated time of fellowship, prayer, and spiritual renewal. We are honored to welcome longtime PCA pastor Joe Novenson, who will be speaking throughout the weekend, encouraging and equipping our elders in their leadership. Joe will also preach on Sunday, September 7. Please keep our church leadership in your prayers as they seek to faithfully shepherd the congregation and steward the responsibilities entrusted to them.

VISION STATEMENT AND CHURCHWIDE OBJECTIVES

The Session has adopted a new, five-year vision plan for Westminster. Rooted in a legacy of faithful ministry, this plan focuses on deepening community, strengthening intergenerational discipleship, and expanding gospel impact both within our congregation and throughout the wider community. We are committed to becoming a more welcoming and connected church, where newcomers find their place within our congregation, and members are equipped to live out their faith in daily life. Key goals include growing participation in worship and small groups, increasing engagement in local outreach, and updating our campus to better support long-term ministry. With focused leadership, generous support, and shared purpose, we aim to build on our strong foundation and carry our mission forward into the next generation.

For 2025, we are focusing on three key objectives:

  1. Develop a discipleship pathway that equips our leaders to be disciples of Christ who make disciples.
  2. Launch a capital campaign to renovate our campus and prepare our facilities to support ministry for years to come.
  3. Foster a more welcoming church culture by creating intentional experiences, practices, and opportunities that help every person feel seen, valued, and connected.
