Dear Westminster Presbyterian Church Family,  

Please read on for an update from the August Session meeting. 

Devotion and Prayer 

One of the Session’s most important responsibilities is to pray for our congregation and faithfully shepherd the flock entrusted to its care. Before turning to the business of the church, Pastor JT Hoover opened the meeting with a devotion from Hebrews 12 before the elders spent intentional time together in prayer, seeking the Lord’s wisdom and praying for the people and ministry of Westminster. 

Forward Together Capital Campaign 

The Session approved the budget and revised scope for the next phase of the Forward Together Capital Campaign. The scope remains largely consistent with what was presented during the fundraising phase of the campaign, with revisions made in response to updated cost estimates. Plans continue to focus on key areas of our campus, including improvements to worship and welcoming spaces, accessibility, needed facility repairs, and updates to the gym building and playground. 

We are grateful for the continued work of the Forward Together Campaign Steering Committee to refine these plans and thoughtfully steward the resources committed to this effort. The committee is now turning its attention to communicating the updated scope and anticipated renovation timeline, and more information will be shared with the congregation in the coming weeks. 

Pastor Search Committee Update 

The Pastor Search Committee continues its work of prayerfully discerning Westminster’s next Senior Pastor. The committee is currently scheduling second round 90-minute interviews involving the full committee.  

Please continue to pray for wisdom, discernment, unity, and endurance for the committee, as well as for the candidates and their families throughout this process. 

Finance Committee 

The Session continues to monitor Westminster’s current financial position as we look ahead to the coming year. The members of the newly established Finance Committee have now been finalized, and the committee will begin meeting soon to develop the 2027 budget. 

As we plan for the year ahead, our goal is to continue to steward Westminster’s resources wisely while ensuring that our financial priorities support the ministry and mission God has entrusted to our church. This committee will better equip us in reaching this goal.

Looking Ahead 

As Westminster continues through this season of transition, the Session is continuing its active role in providing leadership and helping guide the church forward. Over the next several months, the elders are setting aside intentional time to consider important aspects of Westminster’s life and ministry. In September, they will focus on how we are carrying out the Great Commission, followed in October by a conversation about strengthening relationships, communication, and unity among our church leadership and staff.
