Pastor Search Committee: Read the Latest Update

Session Update — January 2026

Dear Westminster Presbyterian Church Family,

Please read on for an update from the Session’s January meeting.

OFFICER COMMUNICATION

The Presbyterian Church in America ordains two types of officers: elders, who are responsible for shepherding and governance, and deacons, who are charged with ministries of mercy. Collaboration between these two bodies is essential to the health of the church. To strengthen communication and coordination, the Session determined that a Ruling Elder will attend the monthly Diaconate meetings on a rotating basis to report on the work and activities of the Session.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

Due to your generous giving, Westminster ended 2025 with a net operating overage of over $100k. As has been our practice in recent years, 10% of this will be earmarked as a tithe to support other ministries as allocated by our Community Engagement Committee. The use of the remaining funds will be determined by the Session Leadership Team. Thank you for your faithful giving to support the ministries of Westminster. A detailed budget will be posted in February at wpcgo.com/give.

PRESBYTERY AND GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPDATE

The churches of Fellowship Presbytery held its stated meeting on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Trinity Church in Van Wyck, SC, gathering officers and representatives from its member churches for fellowship, worship, and denominational business.

The 53rd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) is scheduled to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, from June 22–26, 2026. This annual denominational gathering brings together Teaching Elders and Ruling Elders from PCA churches across the country for business, worship, and ministry collaboration. Westminster plans to send two delegates, a Teaching Elder, and a Ruling Elder to this annual meeting.

VISION AND CONGREGATIONAL MEETING UPDATE

The Session reviewed the 2026 churchwide objectives, the capital campaign, and plans for the pastoral transition. These topics will be presented to the full congregation at the Vision and Congregational Meetings now scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 10am. During the Congregational Meeting portion of that hour, the congregation will be informed on the process for nominating and electing church members to serve on our Pastor Search Committee. This is an important moment in the life of our church, and we hope that all members will make an effort to attend. The meeting will be live streamed for informational purposes only as proxy voting is not permitted per our Book of Church Order.

Please stay tuned each month for continued updates from the Westminster Session. If you have questions about any of the items mentioned in this monthly update or want more details, please email wpcsession@wpcgo.com.
