Welcome Our New Executive Director, Steve Smith
As we have communicated previously, we have been searching over the last several months for a new Executive Director to help with the organizational health of our ministries. This pivotal role will not only help us think strategically but also unite our church community. We are thrilled to announce we have hired Steve Smith to fill this role beginning in January.
Steve Smith grew up in church, came to faith in Christ at a young age, and has always loved the people and the ministry of the church. He responded to a call to ministry in college and has spent most of his ministry career in communications and media ministries, first at his home church in Savannah, Georgia, then at First Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida and Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He was ordained to the gospel ministry at First Baptist Orlando in 1996.
Sensing a call to a broader role in church leadership and a passion to foster the organizational health of the church, Steve moved into the Executive Pastor role at First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 2020.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Mercer University and later a Master of Arts in Corporate Communication from Rollins College and a Master of Theological Studies through Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Brandi (an Orlando native), married in 1996. Brandi is a career educator and serves as an assistant principal with Broken Arrow Public Schools. They have two daughters, Ellie (born 1999) and Olivia (born 2003). Ellie and her husband, Cade (married in 2022) live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As a junior at the University of Arkansas, Olivia is completing her first semester in the nursing program. One of Steve's longtime hobbies has been barefoot waterskiing, a skill he discovered after growing into a size 12 shoe while still in high school.
