A Word From the Session

Westminster Presbyterian Church is entering an important season in the life of our congregation, one marked by gratitude, prayer, and hopeful anticipation for the future.

After more than twelve faithful years of ministry, Pastor Mike Honeycutt has shared his decision to retire from his role as Lead Pastor. We give thanks to God for Mike and Judy, for their obedience to God’s call to Westminster, and for the lasting spiritual fruit of Mike’s leadership among us. This transition is being undertaken thoughtfully and deliberately, with care for both our church family and the ministry God continues to entrust to Westminster.

While Mike’s retirement marks a significant moment, this season is primarily about preparing for what God has next. Central to that preparation is the formation of a Pastor Search Committee (PSC).

What Is the Pastor Search Committee?

The Pastor Search Committee is a group of members elected by the congregation to prayerfully seek, evaluate, and recommend the next Senior Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church. This process follows the guidance of the PCA Book of Church Order and reflects our shared commitment to biblical leadership, congregational involvement, and dependence on the Lord.

The PSC will be composed of nine members drawn from our congregation and elected by congregational vote.

Criteria for Nominating PSC Members

As you prayerfully consider whom to nominate, please use the following criteria to guide your discernment. Nominees should be individuals who:

  • Are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and have demonstrated a clear commitment to the life and ministry of the church
  • Show evidence in their spiritual life of a genuine pursuit of Christ and ongoing growth in spiritual maturity
  • Demonstrate wisdom, discernment, and discretion in their personal life
  • Exhibit the ability to work well with others in relationships marked by humility, patience, and unity
  • Are willing and able to serve if elected to the Pastor Search Committee

Serving on the PSC is a significant responsibility that requires time, prayer, confidentiality, and a deep dependence on the Lord’s leading.

A Call to Prayer

Above all, we ask you to pray.

  • Pray for Pastor Mike and Judy as they begin this transition.
  • Pray for our elders and leaders as they guide this process.
  • Pray for those who may be nominated to serve on the Pastor Search Committee.
  • Pray that the Lord would raise up the right next shepherd to lead Westminster Presbyterian Church into its next season of gospel ministry.

We trust that the same God who has faithfully led us thus far will continue to do so—for His glory and for the good of His church.
