A Legacy of Faith: Looking Ahead with Purpose

For fifty years, Westminster Presbyterian Church has been a beacon of faith in Rock Hill and beyond, embodying the Great Commission in transformative ways through our emphasis on the means of grace. Our journey has not only shaped a thriving church community but has also extended far beyond our walls, impacting lives and advancing God’s kingdom in our region and across the world.

As we step boldly into the next fifty years, we reaffirm our mission: to help people find hope, freedom, and purpose in Jesus. Our core values—gospel-saturated, outward-focused, multi-generational, biblically rooted, and relationally honest—should define us. Guided by a clear ministry strategy of worship, grow, and serve, we now set forth a vision to direct our collective efforts and resources over the next five years.

A Vision for the Future

Embracing our gospel-centered and outward-focused values, we are committed to becoming a more welcoming church. This means fostering not just a culture of hospitality but also having an intentional, well-defined process that helps newcomers transition from their first visit to fully engaged covenant membership.

While providing a welcoming experience on our campus is important, it’s even more vital for our members to actively share the gospel in their everyday lives—where they live, work, and play. We will foster a culture of gospel engagement and provide training that inspires and equips our people to share their faith with those in their circles of influence. We aim to increase our average Sunday worship attendance by 25%, ensuring that more people, whether connected on our campus or through a “neighbor” relationship with our members, experience the transformative power of belonging to God’s kingdom and to Westminster.

Rooted in our heritage as a multi-generational church, we will take a bold step forward in cultivating an intergenerational culture. Our goal is to forge deeper connections among generations—energizing today’s members to disciple the next, securing a legacy of faith that shines as brightly in the future as it has in the past. This will be reflected in how we present both traditional and modern worship expressions—not as competing efforts, but as a unified, God-glorifying movement despite separate gatherings.

Westminster Presbyterian will be defined less by stylistic distinctions and more by shared convictions, values, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in worship. We will bridge gaps in unity, reimagine and update our physical spaces to be more aesthetically inviting and guest-centric, and implement a robust discipleship pathway—one that leads at least 70% of our covenant members into meaningful, intergenerational small groups where transparency and transformation thrive. A spirit of generosity among our people will provide the capital needs for this vision.

God has entrusted Westminster with tremendous resources and ministry partnerships over the decades. Our vision is not merely to preserve these blessings but to leverage them for greater impact. We will actively engage with those who participate in our outreach ministries with the goal of seeing 15% of these unchurched individuals and families become active participants and ultimately covenant members of Westminster. Further, 50% of our congregation will serve regularly inside or outside the church.

With clear vision and renewed purpose, we stand ready to embrace the future. Together, we will build upon our rich history, deepen our discipleship, and expand our reach—so that Westminster Presbyterian Church continues to be a light of hope, freedom, and purpose for generations to come.
