Jesus calls his followers to be and to make disciples. This is central to his purpose for the Church.
Westminster bases its men’s discipleship ministry on the model Jesus lives out for us, teaching us to follow him, grow in our faith in him, and invest our lives in others. Mature and equipped leaders pour their lives into a few for the purpose of helping them also to grow as mature and equipped leaders who in turn invest in the lives of others. We desire the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts through His Word, asking Him to transform us more into the image of Jesus as we commit to regular meetings and honest relationships with each other.
Tim Keller's book Judges for You will guide us in a study of the Old Testament book of Judges during our 2024-25 season.
Judges covers a dark and disturbing period of Israel’s history that bears striking similarities to the period of history we are living in today. The study will lead us to look at our own hearts as we strive to live together as the people of God. And it warns of the dire consequences when God’s people abandon his worship, they disregard his divine authority, and “everyone does what is right in his own eyes.” Ultimately, our study points us to our desperate need for Jesus, the divine Savior and Messiah, to enter and rule in our hearts by the power of his gospel.
